How do you stop mold?

How do you stop mold?

What is the mold?

If you do not know what a mold is, let me explain you. Mold is a kind of fungus that grows virtually everywhere. Even if you do not see it, the mold is actually present in every surface. It feeds on plants and fibers and thrives in damp, musty locations such as bathrooms, basements and attics. Molds multiply by traveling through the air as tiny spores which like to make their home in wet areas. It grows fastest in warm temperatures and canĀ  adversely affect the health of your family members, so it is very important to keep it in check.

How can you stop it from spreading?

The first and the most important step to stop mold from multiplying is to find and eliminate the source of the problem. You need to check your home and see where is the moisture. If the area where the mold is found is not large you can probably handle the moisture problem. But if the area is like a ten square feet or even more big, you should contact with some specialist who would help you with that problem. Also, if you ever notice any leaks, fix it immediately. You should also increase ventilation, so the mold could not grow. Another thing is providing fresh air. For tightly constructed homes it is necessary provide a regular amount of fresh air, this can be done through your furnace with an air cycler or even better an energy recovery ventilator. What is more, the water should be direct away from your home because if the ground around your home is not sufficiently sloped away from the foundation, water may collect there and seep into your crawlspace or basement. So, now you see that there is a lot of things that you can do to help yourself in a battle with mold. Just remember, act quickly when you first notice a mold in your home.
